Hydraulic Thumb

Hold irregular material against the bucket for controlled handling.

Give the bucket
a gripping partner.

A BETENSH hydraulic thumb works against an excavator bucket to hold irregular material while it is moved or placed. Logs, rocks and uneven pieces can be difficult to retain in a bucket alone.

The bucket and thumb need to work as a pair. Material shape, bucket width and the movement of the bucket through its working range guide the configuration.

Pins, cylinder connections and mounting pieces help identify the supplied assembly.

Look beyond
the gripping teeth.

Mounting position, pivot locations and cylinder travel determine how the thumb meets the bucket. The installation must allow the intended bucket movement without unwanted interference.

When adding a thumb to an existing machine, include the bucket and stick in the fitment discussion. For a dealer supplying a kit, list the mounting and hydraulic items separately.

Identify the assembly.
Keep maintenance clear.

A whole-unit view is useful for identifying the thumb body, cylinder, pins and mounting pieces. Close photos of a worn part give a repair shop a more precise starting point for a replacement enquiry.

For Plant Hire handover, record the fitted bucket-and-thumb configuration and its operating instructions. Inspection and connection details should follow that assembly, rather than a visually similar thumb.

Start with the excavator.
Include its bucket.

Send the excavator brand, full model and tonnage, the bucket width and a photo of the bucket and stick. Describe the material you want to grip and how it will be handled.

Detailed fitment covers mounting geometry, pin and pivot positions and the bucket’s movement. The thumb must suit the intended bucket setup.

If you do not know the measurements, you can still start with photos and the machine model.
